I seriously doubt anyone is reading my journal.  lol  I don't think anyone has friended me yet.  It's weird to be in a new world like Livejournal.  In certain genres everyone knows me so to be a stranger just feels odd.  I'm outside of my comfort zone!  I really love The OC fanfiction realm though and want to stick it out and try writing something.  I wanted to ask if anyone had any recommendations on where to post.  Should I just place the story right on my Livejournal?  I also wanted to know if anyone had any ideas on where to find a beta.

Ugh...  You'd figure after writing in other genres for seven years I'd be better at this!

No such luck...  :)

Thanks for any hep!

There are communities usually for fanfic and things. The OC Fic Community is there. And if you're a slasher, there's The OC Slash. Most people post to their LJ with the fic and then post in the comm with a link to the fic. Does that help?

That actually helps alot. :) I've got an idea for a large story...I tend to be very long winded. LOL I'm going to try to write a small snippet based on idea I got from watching The Debut. I figure I'll start with something small and see how it goes. One question though... How do you post a comm? I see everyone else doing that and have no clue how to do it. Any help you could offer would be great! Thanks for taking the time to respond.

You have to join that community. It's easy - click on the community and go to the user info - it'll let you join. Once you join, you can post to that community. That's usually how you end up meeting other people who write/think like you do.
LJ is actually pretty easy to navigate once you get used to it, and trust me - I am extremely computer stoopid. If I can do it, anyone can.

I appreciate the information! I've joined a couple of communities since I've posted this. Once I actually start writing more, I'm going to post my story here on my LJ and figure out how to link it to the community. I make no promises as to how long it's going to take me to figure it out. :)

Thanks for responding though. I appreciate all the help I can get!

Having only joined lj end of last year, it was weird for me, i am not clever on the pc and at the time was emotionally all over the place. But this is a fantatic community and i have made some wonderful friends. Thanks for friending it means a lot and after we have booked our hols this year,( my youngest is having a surf board for his birthday so we are planning lots of long weekenders at places that have a good surf. When we out in 2006 he was bodyboarding at Daytona beach) i will bombard you about Florida x
