Fanfic Auction for a Good Cause

Well, I've decided to throw caution to the wind and sign up for the Support Stacie Holiday Auction. I can't think of a better cause than helping someone beat cancer.

I encourage all authors that can find the time to sign up, and all readers who can afford to bid to participate. Remember that it's open to all fandoms. I'm in a constant state of amazement over the generosity of those I have meet through the internet. I honestly can't think of a better group of people. In the immortal words of the Highlander, you all make my heart glad!

Here's a list of the authors that have already signed up.

I'm offering a Doctor Who story for the winning bidder on my auction once it's posted. I'd be more than happy to print out a hard copy, bind and sign it, and mail to the winner if they'd like that.

I look at it this way, even if no one bids, at least I can say I tried to help out a worthy cause! Even if you can't write or bid on a story, you can always help spread the word on your journal. I encourage all those that can participate, please do!

I'm sure there will be more auctions in the future because, as we all know, cancer treatment without having insurance is no cheap affair. Check the website for new information and new auctions in the future if you can't make the deadlines this time around.

I'm either nicer than I though I was or kind of crazy, as I'm right now aving a look at it and will most likely sign up.
Good of you to spread the word!

Ohhh! Please sign up! I'd definitely bid on you if you did! :)

I'm not sure if the sign ups have closed or not, but I bet if you emailed them, they'd let you sign up anyway.

It's for a great cause after all. See, we are nice people!

I did sing up, with a fat "Please let me join, I only learned about this 5 minutes ago!" message.

I was thinking about bidding on you. For obvious reasons I can't get very high in price, but I'll definitely try. If someone with more money at their hands can outbit me all the better - it means more money for the good cause.

YAY!!! I'm SO excited!

Next time I hear about something like this, I'll email you personally so you don't hear about it last minute. :) I wasn't sure if you'd be interested. I should have known you'd jump in with both feet just like you always do. On a side note, that's another thing that I love about you. ;)

If someone with more money at their hands can outbit me all the better - it means more money for the good cause.

I feel the same way! The more money that's raised, the better. It gives me a wonderful feeling seeing how many people who have never even met each other ban together for such a gret cause.

I think it's wonderful that you signed up. I have a feeling we're going to be scheduling writing nights for months to come if this keeps up.

Only just saw this response. The notifiation emails of the past week keep coming in. Yesterday I uploaded a new story and today I went to hotmail and thought, Oh look! 13 new comments! That's neat.
Turn out it's been comments on my comics I received days ago - I feel somewhat cheated.

Anyway... You know I can't resist things like this. I'd feel evil if I did.
Someone once said we don't help others for their sake but for ours, so we feel good about ourselves. That's probably right, but as long as others profit from it there's nothing wrong with it. And who'd help if it made them feel miserable?

Or my subconscious lets me do this so we have a reason for lots and lots of writintg nights. :P

::pokes you both::

Hey... I'm not participating as an author so I want to participate by bidding. But the suggestion is to win an author and have them write a fic as a holiday gift for a friend. So... can I bid on both of you and, if I win you both, tell you to write holiday fics as gifts for each other? :-D

I bet you can. I'm not sure "Write a holiday fic for nightrider" is a detailed request though. :P
But what if you win only one? One of us would have to be holiday fic-less. Although I'm already bidding on nighrider, and she'll try and win me, so...
You have better chances to win her, since I'm lacking money and can't bid very high.
It's great of you to participate!

I'm feeling festive with all the good vibes and wonderful people trying to help out an amazing cause.

I'm having a sappy moment over here! :)

That's exactly my problem... I want to participate, but I wouldn't know what to do if I'd actually won an author! I can never come up with prompts I like. I just want you guys to keep writing more of your awesome fic, however you choose to write it!

I've got until Monday night to think about it, though. :-)

Even longer, I think. Just the bidding stops on Monday.
Though I suppose it helps if the prompt comes quickly, so the authors have a chance to finish the story within the time limit.
The bids for nightrider's fic have already risen to 25 $.

I know how you feel. I fail at thinking of prompts. If I was you, go with general prompts and themes that you like. We all know you're a Ten!whumpage fan! Of course so am I... ;)

This is true! Ten!whumpage is always a safe prompt. :-)

But I think I'm actually going to sit this one out. I outright donated the remainder of my Christmas budget instead.

I'll sign on as an author the next time they run an auction, though. :-D

That's great news! I'll have someone else to bid on. :D

That's very generous of you!

This is such an amazing cause. I think it's wonderful that the DW community has come out in full force. :)

If I win an auction, I doubt I'll use it as a gift for another person. I fail at following suggestions. :P

Also, it's great to see you popping up now and again! I've missed you!

I've missed you, too! I'm so glad for the OT3 Ficathon giving me an excuse to jump back in.

I think it's wonderful that the DW community has come out in full force.

It really is, isn't it? It's amazing what a handful of passionate geeks can accomplish when they set their minds to it. I like to think the Doctor would be proud of his fans. :-D
